i have a 1983 GMC pickup miles are HIGH. it will run fine for weeks sometime months but then it will die while i am idling or even driving sometimes it will start back up right away but sometime it takes a day. last time it happened it would start and run then when i put it in any gear it cut out. does anyone have any ideas what this could be, besides that its OLD. :?

okee dokee. sounds like you need a new coil and replace your voltage regulator.

when it stalles and wont start again I hit the ecm under the dash a few times and it starts and its good to go until it does it again .Sometime its good for a long time and other times just a few minutes but now I dont have to weight until the truck is ready to go .
