what would cause the speedo in my truck to bounce while driving

the cable is either hanging up in the sleeve or it needs to be lubed. If you are going to lube it use thin grease like lithium and take it apart form the top and pull the cableout that way. If you don't have the cable type then your speedo can be screwing up or you speed sensor is , but you may have a service engine light on.
