Light on (MIL) and code is 12 (engine speed sensor circuit). What damage represent this code in the engine function? Where to locate the sensor?

Code would disable cruise control.

Sensor is on transmission.

Thanks for your response.

Code 42 is vehicle speed sensor (Speedometer).
And code 12 is engine speed sensor circuit (RPM) signal. The OBD scan screen said.

What symptom represents this code in the engine function?
Where to locate the sensor?

Sensor is near output shafts on tranny.
