Hello. I am trying to replace the fuel filter. I cannot locate it anywhere. I've watched videos and I see no filter located where it's supposed to be. Is it possible it's in the fuel tank? Thank you.

Hello Ryan Prumers,

It should be on the driver's side, on the frame rail by the torsion bar and forward of the ABS module. Right about where the frame starts to curve.

I have added a picture for your reference.

Thank you,
Brendon

Hey Brandon, I appreciate your response. There truly is not a filter in this location. It's simply not there. I have read on other threads, of guys saying if it's not there, then it would be inside the tank. Saying in '04, GM decided to install a lifetime filter inside the tank. Is this a possibility to your knowledge? Thanks again.

Good morning, Ryan Prumers,

Hmm. That's weird. I have never run into that on GM trucks personally but it wouldn't surprise me if they did that for no reason.

I was looking around and did read a couple of things like that to. I hope not. You and I both know there is no such thing as a lifetime filter, they all need to be changed eventually or at least cleaned, now they are going to make you drop the tank to change it? Lol that's crazy. Maybe fuel pump sales are down because I'm sure you have to get it with the pump lol.

If you want to send me your entire 17-digit VIN I will see if I can find the information on it and see if we can locate this filter.

Thank you,
Brendon
