I have a 98 Windstar with about 207,000 miles. It is a 2 wheel drive with automatic transmission. Here is my question. During the hot summer months my van wants to die when I start it up. You have to let it "warm up" before you can put it into gear. This only happens in the hot summer time. What my be causing this? Any help would be appreciated. Debbi~

1. Make and Model of your car
2. Include the mileage
3. Stick shift or automatic transmission
4. 2 or 4 wheel drive
5. Strange sounds
6. Fluid leaks
7. Past repair history if applicable

This happens after the car has been driven for awhile and the engine is fully warmed up.

This is an example of when it happens. I leave in the hot afternoon for a 45 min. Trip into the city. The engine is totally warmed up and I've been using the air condidtioner. I stop at the store and when I come back to leave and try to start up the van. It keeps wanting to die on me when I put it into gear. I've tried turing off the air before exiting the van, but this has made no difference. Sorry about the confusion. It drives fine once I get it a going. Any other thoughts, or do you think it is the same thing? Debbi
