Our 2002 Ford Windstar runs rough when the engine is cold, we drive it for a short distance (1/2 to 1 mile), and have to stop and idle with the brake on at a stop light or any other reason sitting with the brake on. As soon as it warms up it idles just fine when we have to stop.

Hi:
Has the check engine light on? Also, have you checked for vacuum leaks? Finally, check the EGR valve to make sure it isn't sticking or carboned.

The check engine light has not come on. I have not checked for vacuum leaks or the EGR valve, I'll give that a shot.

Thanks!!

I had the same issue. I took off the idle air control and cleaned the carbon out. The issue is gone.
