my 1993 tempo 4 cyl. with 89000 miles needs the speedometer drive gear replaced how do i remove the retaining screw from the retainer assembly ?

Using a suitable wrench, remove the retaining screw from the speedometer drive gear retainer assemble.
That's all the book says. Looks like it is a nut from the illustration.
