Need to replace drivers side door, due to a kami-kazi deer (it did live).I have replacement door ready to go. Each door has auto. Door locks, power windows, and mirrors. Would appreciate directions, or the procedure to complete this. It looks fairly easy, still I like to know i'm doing it correctly.

Hello,

The first thing you must do is remove the door panel this guide will help you with that.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/door-panel-removal

To remove the power equipment, you will need to either pop out the apparatus with the various switches and remove the interior of the door. Once the interior door covering is removed, you will see several ports into the door. If the new door has the electronics already installed, all you will need to do is to unplug these devices. If you will have to do a conversion, unplug them for now and leave them in place. Feed the electrical wiring through the port on the edge of the door by the hinges.

Use a wrench and unbolt the door from the car body. This job is much easier if you have someone who can hold up on the door while you loosen the hinges. Most hinges have three or four bolts, and most doors have two hinges. Keep track of these bolts. They should all be alike, but if there are differences, mark where each bolt should be returned when putting the new door in place. Once the bolts are all out, remove the door and install new. Be sure to align the door properly once bolted back on.

Here are some diagrams (below) that will help you get the job done.

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

My right side rear door was badly damaged by a fallen tree that went through the window. I bought a right side rear door for my 2000 Ford Taurus SE from a salvage yard and want to replace it with the damaged door. The replacement door has the hinges as well as the arm that goes inside the door. Should I remove the hinges on the replacement door and attach it to the hinges already on the car as this seems like the easiest means of insalling the door since access to the bolts is easiest this way.
