I have a 99 taurus that had a pinhole leak in the reservoir. After replacing the coolant jug, my cap on thevresrvoir is popping off due to excess pressure. The motor runs smoothly, and there are no check engine lights on. Also there is no overheating issue, or excessive exhaust smoke. Also replaced thermostat & flushed radiator & heater core; replaced antifreeze also. What do you recommend I do to determine problem

Check the pressure cap
the pressure cap is ussually designed to operate in the 14-17 psi(97-117 kpa) pressure range.
Look in your cap it should be written there.
It may be tested using a cooling system pressure tester and an adapter. Before testing the cap, make sure the tread on the jug where the cap fit is not damage or worn out.
It could cause the cap to pop off when it is under pressure.
If you need instruction to how to test the cap, let me know.
You could buy a new cap and take care of the problem. If the cap pop off and engine is overheating, that will be another issue.
