1996 Ford Taurus will not start

When you turn the key you can hear the fule pump but does not turn over battery fully charged have power to the starter but does not turn over

Hello,

Ok, just because the Battery is Fully Charged doesn't mean it isn't Bad. Your battery can be fully charged (12.56 volt) But if the CCA's (Cold Cranking Amps) are low or non-existant then it won't turn the engine over.

I would suggest trying to Jump Start it. If it starts then you most likely need a battery. You can go by your local parts store and have them test the battery.

If still won't start then most likely it's the Starter. You can remove it and take it to your local parts store and they should be able to bench test it.

Crank and no start
battery tested Ok and fully charged
check for power at the starter small wire when key in start position
if have power and no crank suspect and replace starter
