Smells problem
1996 Ford Taurus Automatic

the sales rep at autozone said your supposed to change oils every few thousand miles. My manual says I should use SAE 5W-30 but he said I needed 10W. Ever since I did the change it kinda smells like my block is burning up, anyone know anything about this changing oils thing?

If the manual says 5W30, follow it. If you look in the manual, 10W30 may be an option in hot climates, but I recommend using the 5W30 if that is what it calls for. The reason fir it is to get oil throughout the engine faster on cold starts. 5-30 stays thinner than 10-30.

If you have other questions, let me know.
