1995 Ford Taurus car won't go over 35mph

1995 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 180k miles

problem started out of nowhere. I step on the gas and the car won't go over 35mph, she will hesitate, and buck a little, and just go blah if I step on the gas hard. Not really reving high, and doesn't appear to shift either. Did get it up to 65mph after 45 min of trying. Even shifted manually through the gears - no help.

Have the exhaust and especially the catalytic convertery checked, sounds like a clogged cat.
