Hi guys- I have a 1994 ford taurus sho and I need to remove the clutch pulley from the a/c compressor. I have taken the hub off, removed the broken part off the pulley, removed the snap ring and now cannot get the bearing off or the other broken piece that remains in tact as well as the rear field coil. The compressor is a new reman that was replaced in 5-07, so I must be doing something wrong. My sons and I are at wits end and have bailed out for the day. There is another snap ring further down under what appears to be a race, but that looks like it needs to be removed at a later time as I cannot. This is still on the vehicle and want to stay that way. Fyi its a nippondenso unit. Thanks! Aaron

That snap ring might be whats holding it. Just because you dont want to remove the comp doesnt mean that the snap ring isnt the obstacle

I understand that, but the snap ring is buried so far down past the race that it is not possible to get the snap ring tool down there, even with the compressor off. Also, the snap ring is buried below the race, so it cannot be removed even once spread. In other words, I can only see the eyelets of the snap ring and some minor parts of the ring. Would you know whether the book states that the compressor must come off the car to remove the pulley?

Sometimes you have to give them a little love with a brass punch and hammer to get them to come apart. Tap from behind side to side evenly
