The other day when I applied the left blinker it was blinking very fast. It did it the whole trip 200 miles. But then the next day it was fine and has not done it since. My wife joked with me and said it was caused by the garmin gps unit but I have plugged it in and still the blinker is normal. What's up? I checked the blub and it is fine and the right one stayed normal.

When they blink fast, either you have a bad bulb or the circuit isn't being completed. My guess is you have a bad bulb socket. If it happens again, leave it on and check which one isn't working and check for a burnt bulb and make sure the socket is in good condition.

Why is my left turn signal blinking faster than my right turn signal?

That indicates a blown bulb on the left side of vehicle. Could be any of the bulbs, not just turn signal bulb so check them all.
