I have a 1999 Ford Ranger and we need to change the front shocks. But we are not sure how. it looks like they are inside the springs. How do we change them? How do we change them without bothering the springs? or is it possible?

Raise vehicle secure with jack stands. Pull front wheels off. Remove top shock nut, washer, and bushing. Remove two lower shock bolts. Remove shock, should drop down from bottom.

If shocks what u need to change that should not affect the spring at all the shock fit in and throw the spring with no effect on it while removing
You have two bolts at the bottom and one nut up top remove the nut and the two bolts pull shock out and replace
pay attention to the top when installing for the bushings

Struts is what you should be worry about the spring and you will need a press for it
