If is not an actual engine knocking coming from the bearings or the upper end could be detonating caused by the EGR valve, the Knock sensor or an engine that's overheating

Thanks. I am leaning towards the EGR valve. From my reading, it appears to be the most identified probable cause. I am not sure that I have a knock sensor. There is a vacuum valve solenoid operated regulator, too. I noted a while back, during the hot season, that when I selected the MAX AC setting, the inside/outside air flapper valve cycled from the vent location to the floor then back. Not sure if that indicates a common problem associated with the vacuum system. There is a vacuum reservoir [bulb shaped tank] that outputs to the cab, [heat/AC air flapper control]. Thanks, again.
