Sounds to me like you got a bad distributor. This was a big problem on these GT's. The way you described it is classic bad distributor, though. Shuts off when it gets hot, then starts back up after it cools down. It will only get worse. Hopefully you can get the one you just put in replaced, 'cause they're not cheap. The problem is actually a module on the distributor, but when I had to buy one, it was actually cheaper to buy a whole new distributor. Let me know, and good luck.
