ignition rotor problem

what's the worse thing that can happen if I reinstall the rotor in the wrong position? Old one was beat up and got a replacement rotor and cap but am not sure how it goes back...

The rotor is keyed, it'll only go back one-way. You need to make sure you re-install the sparkplug wires correctly to the cap, each has it's own place.

got everything back on correctly.

The plugs were really hard to get out.

I put a small amount of dielectric grease on the threads, normally I'd use lithium grease but I couldnt find it. DO you think dielectric grease would be ok?

Yeah, that should be fine.. also supposed to use the grease around the sparkplug where it fits into the boot, what I usually do is just squirt a bit into the boot end also a small film on the tip of the rotor... I use a small amount of anti-seize on the threads myself...
