My dad has the same exact car. Basically what ford told him (since he had the same problem but in the rear) that it was a control module that causes the car to lift up when the ignition is turned on. And that he would have to replace that. They said it would cost about $1200 to fix it. Also the front airbags may have gone out, if so each one is about $400. Of course im just guessing since my dad has gone through this, but that would be my answer.

Also the front is made to sit on the tires when the car is cold ( On ours it took about 30-60 mins for it too completely deflate and the front end to sit on the tires) Does it rise up at all when the igniton is turned on? Crank it up and wait about 10 minutes and if everything is functioning properly you will see it rise up very slowly.

I have been working on one lately. It shouldnt take a min or two for the car to rise, and it should never drop down unless there is a leak. You have a ride height sensor on each of the front wheels. Check to make sure they are hooked up. But you will still have problems due to a leak. Eventually it will burn the compressor up if not fixed. You can get new air bags at alot better than 400.00 but remember ford says the life span is 4 years, so I would sugest a change over kit. It comes with new springs/ shocks, and strutts. You can get front and rear kit for under 400.00 and never worry about the pos air ride of a ford.

The whole swap over took me 2 hours. Do a web search on ford air rides and you will find the kit or I will try to find the site again.

Check out arnott industries online they specialize in lincoln air suspensions
i was reffered to them by a lincoln dealership when it they said it would cost more to replace the electronic than my continental was worth. They have all the parts you need at a fraction of the dealer cost and they stand by their products
