Knocking in the engine

Hi I have a 1996 ford mustang. The water pump housing was cracked and had it repaired. Has not run right since. When starting the car it seems to reve and stalls. There is also and knocking that happens when in idle. Can you give me some insight on what the problem is? Your help is appreciated.

What kind of housing was repaired? You don't repair a water pump, you replace it. Explain the stalling condition a little better. Also provide the engine, mileage and tranny type.
