My car will not start when it is cold, you give it gas to start it and as soon as you let off it dies instantly

Hi Katie
this sounds like a typical idle control sensor. Or [iac]
are you saying as long as you hold the idle up the car stays running?

Yes as long as you hold the idle the car stays running, and as soon as you let off it stalls out until the engine gets warm. My husband replaced the fuel filter but we are out of ideas.

This only happens when it is cold, and after about 10 tries
it starts like a charm, other than that we have no problems

HI
Two things will normally cause this.
One the iac sensor and also the temp sensor. The temp sensors sole purpose in life, is to know exactly what temp your eng is. So with this info the computer adjust fuel accordingly. Real cold it has to provide more fuel. Good luck billymac
