I have a 1998 Ford Taurus 135000 miles. I was driving down the highway and heard a lot pop. Now my blinkers or hazard lights won't work. What is wrong, how can it be fixed, and how much does it normally cost?

Check your fuse panel. The pop you heard may have been a fuse going.

Someone tried to look for the fuse that went to the blinkers and couldn't find it. He looked under the dashboard and under the hood. Someone said it might be inside the steering column. Is this right?

I believe your blinker solenoid is in the steering column, however there should be a fuse labeled "horn/hazard" either in the engine compartment fuse box or the interior fuse panel. Pull the steering column shroud off the steering column and take a look at the switch assembly. It should contain the blinker solenoid. That might actually have gone bad rather than a fuse. I have not seen the switch assembly in the taurus of your year. It might have a fuse.
