ALTERNATOR FAILURES

2002 F-350 W/ V-10, DUALLY, 4 DOOR, 104,000 MILES. WILL A BAD ALTERNATOR CAUSE SPARK PLUG COILS TO FAIL? LOST 1ST ALT, #5 COIL FAILED. LOST 2ND ALT, #10 WENT. LOST MY THIRD ALT, #2 FAILED. THEY WERE A BAD BATCH OF ALTERNATORS FROM THE LOCAL REBUILD GUY. THEY COVERED THE ALTS BUT FORD CHARGES $533.00 EACH TIMETO REPLACE THE COIL. YES, I STARTED REPLACING THEM MYSELF NOW.

At least you`re lucky!

High voltage from a faulty alternator can cause severe damage to the ECU and that. That`s expensive!

High voltage can damage several things and I think your problem was over-voltage or faulty regulator.

Next time get a brand new alternator. Sometimes the cheap gets expensive!
