I recently purchased a 1985 Ford motorhome. It sat in the persons yard for approximately 3 years. It has a 460 motor. I got it home it ran okay on the way home and had oil pressure, I cleaned it up and changed the oil. Now I have no oil pressure. I have changed the oil pump and checked the sending unit. Someone said that in changing the oil I have to prime the oil system, can this be? If so how do I do this reprime? If not true do you have any suggestions on what might have happened when I changed the oil to cause no oil pressure.

Are you positive you have the right filter? Is the drive rod between the distributor and oil pump installed and working? I have never seen one drop oil pressure from changing it, as far as losing prime goes.

Like I said, I have never seen one drop pressure from an oil change, check the filter. If it is the wrong one it can cause a no oil pressure situation. Sounds as if that is the only thing you havent changed back out since the oil change. Did you prime the new oil pump before you installed it?
