Suggested Repair

Inspect the driveshaft U-joints and replace them if worn, since the bounce occurs under acceleration after mudding.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 2000 Ford F-150 reported severe bouncing around 40 mph and a rough idle after mudding, even after thoroughly washing the truck. An expert suggested the U-joints were worn out. The owner added that the bouncing occurs only when accelerating and stops when the throttle is released.
