I have a 2000 Ford F150 V8 with 130,000 miles.

Up unitl about 6 months ago. When I turned the key it started right up, I barely had to complete the turn of the key.

Then on cold days sometimes it seemed like I had to hold it a little longer sometimes, but not always.

Then it started on really hot days too.

Then about a week ago it had a real hard time. I would have to turn the key a couple times and it seemed like it was not getting fuel. Then eventually it would start. But even after driving for awhile. It when I would put it in park the rpms would dip just below 1000 and then just above. Like I was taping the gas.

I have been taking it back and forth to the mechanic multiple times over the last 6 months and they think I am nuts because onve you drive it a while. It starts right up.

they put it on the 'computer' and everything comes back normal.

They said they think it may have something to do with it sitting and then the gas prossure bleeds off?

Anyone any ideas?

You need to clean the radiator, and ac condenser with compressed air, clean it till All dirt is gone, then most likly need a fan clutch. Start by blowing in towards the radiator, then out towards the conderser.
Fan clutches retire at about 90,000 or sooner! Get back to us with the results.

Ok,
Just a couple questions.

1, Once I start driving it doesnt seems to have any problem. It's only in park at idle sometimes that the rpms rev up and down.

2, I never see any issue with the temperature. I thoguht fan clutch would effect temperature?

I will try a little cleaning an see how it works and let ya'll know.

I dont know what cleaning the rad and condensor and installing a fan clutch will do but frustrate you and drain your wallet.
First, is it a 5.4L V8? There are common prob with the iac valve for low idle, also if you are having a hard start condition, hook a fuel pressure guage up to the eng and turn the key on then off, the pressure should stay at around 35psi and hold, if it drops rappidly then you have a bad ck valve in the fuel pump and the pump needs to be replaced. Try that and get back to me with more info before buying anything
