Hi, my 2005 f150 makes a rattle noise. The noise can be turned off by turning switching the truck into 4x4 hi. I recently had both front bearings replaced. The noise stopped for about 2 weeks after bearings being replaced but now it is back. Any ideas on what it could be or how to fix.

Does it sound like it's trying to go into 4wd? Can you describe the sound?

The noise sounds a lot like a heat shield. We have checked all the heat shields nothing. We eliminated the heat shield idea when we discovered that the noise could be stopped by switching the truck into 4x4 hi. There is a slight vibration at gas pedal, which can be felt. Some has mentioned a vacuum solenoid on the 4x4 unit. We have put new wheel hub assembly on both front, new brakes and ball joints but this has me stumped.

Are you sure it isn't the inside of the catylatic converter that you hear?
