does the truck have to be in motion for you to hear the sound?

does the sound change at all if you slightly apply the brakes?

yes, the car needs to be in motion, making a turn at slow speed, left or right, forward or reverse.

use of brakes has no impact.

Do you have any buddies, that you could talk in to hanging on to the frame while you take it for a test drive?
Okay, bad idea.

Call around to some of the larger shop, probably dealers. To see if they have what we call "miracle ears"
It's a device with 6 (sometimes 8 or 10) microphones that you can attach to different parts of the car. And you wear headphones and turn on and off each mic. when you get to the one that is the loudest, then you know you have that mic closest to where the problem is.
