What would cause the door ajar light to stay on even after all of the doors have been secured?

Spray some lubricant (wd40 etc.) Into the lock mechanism on the doors. The switch may be jamming up. Let me know

The front door entry system contains a latch that is fastened to the inside of the door frame and is controlled by the exterior and interior door handles. The latch contains a door ajar switch and a door lock actuator. The front doors can be locked/unlocked by the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter, the RKE keypad, the door lock control switch or the door lock cylinder.

While the door is shut the "door ajar" light will stay on, on the dash and the dome light will stay on in the truck. What do I need to do?

If I recall, the door switch on this model year is actually part of the door latch. Check there to see for it and check to see if it is in need of adjustment or if it needs replaced.

While driving my door ajar lamp stays on causing my interior light and outside cab light to stay on then when I'm parked and truck is off those two lights stay on until I finally unhooked neg. Battery cable. If I hook the cable up after few hours it resets the computer I guess so it works normal for about five minutes then the lamps come back on while driving. Obviously I have made sure all doors are closed tightly but it doesn't help

Thank You
Would that also make it so the power locks don't work?

They can be tested but easiest way is to just switch it with a like relay

I have a 2001 f-150. The dome light, inside door lights, and the light facing the bed stay on when the doors are closed. The door ajar light goes off when the doors close. It does this while running and off just the same. I checked the fuse and the relay I was recently hit pretty badly on the passenger side. The passenger door was replaced. The problem started roughly a month after I got my truck back from the shop.

Was this a used door? If yes, try spraying the top inside of the claw with brakkleen then white lube, do each 5 or 6 times and. Open. And close the door to work it in.

Intermittently, this light comes on the dash. This causes the bed light to come on which runs down the battery because it stays on for about an hour after the key is pulled. I've tried disconnecting the battery to maybe reset it. I can't find the switches for each door(4-door). Where would I find the switches? Is there something else that could cause this?

If I remember correctly, the switches are in/on the latch assemblies.I would start with the drivers door, it is used the most and take the door panel off to unhook the switch to see if the problem goes away

Before you pull it apart, you may want to try lubing the latches good with some thin lubricant such as wd-40. Soak the latch and opne and close the door 20 times or so on each side. I have had good luck with this on the fords.

My door ajar alarm is permanantly on while my Headlamps are on. They belong to the same fuse on the vehicle. How do I deactivate this chime?

The LED display that displays the mileage and temperature now says “door ajar” and there are no doors ajar, therefore the power locks don’t work.

One of the door switches will be faulty, try pushing them all the way in by hand one at a time one door at a time to see if the message will turn off.

Door Ajar light on dashboard come on and off intermittantly. This causes the ceiling cab light to stay on. This happens periodically when driving and the dashboard warning and ceiling light will flicker on and off. This is troublesome as I have left the car locked with the light out only to come back hours later with the ceiling light on as the car thinks the door is open or ajar.

Apparent unrelated problem is the door locks cycle locked/unlocked continuously on an unpredictable periodic basis. I think I have traced this to a faulty key fob that is sending out continuous radio signals.

There is a sensor (switch) in the door that tells the system to shut off the lights when the door is closed. It also is part of the system that locks the doors when the transmission is put in gear. These switches corrode and fail periodically. Try spraying the area with some penetrating oil. This has been known to fix the problem ( short term ) the switch should be replaced when possible.
