1999 Ford F150 Engine wont run

My f-150 has been having problems lately. When i start the engine it will turn over and start but then immediately dies. if i start it and give it gas it will keep running as long as i am revving it but it still runs bad and when i let off the gas it will die. i just replaced the fuel filter. what do you think the problem might be? thank you for any help.
