Yes. It can be done without removing the engine. However in order to remove the oil pan to replace the gasket, you would need to unbolt the engine mounts, loosen the trans mounts and jack the engine up 4 or 5 inches to clear the crossmember. Put on a new gasket, fish the oil pan back in, bolt it up, lower the engine and tighten up the mounts.
The rear main seal cannot be replaced this way, during this process. It is a LOT easier to replace the rear main seal by removing the engine.
