Electrical problem
2004 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

When the brake pedal is pressed on my 2004 Ford Explorer, the brake lights do not come on. I checked all the bulbs and they are in good working order and the brakes are working correctly. Also, when the brakes are pressed, I can not shift it out of park.

It sounds like you have a bad brake light swith. It is located at the top of the brake pedal. Check it. It is responsible for both the brake lights and the park lock solenoid.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Can you provide a schematic of the position of the brake light switch?

I don't have a picture to send. However, it is located at the top of the brake pedal. If you look up under the dash, you will see it. As far as wiring, there is only one plug.

Let me know if you find it.
