The power drivers seat has just recently begun moving only 1"-2". The motor seems to work ok but the seat clearly doesn't go all the way forward. I don't see any obstructions. When I push the switch the seat moves forward and then the motor just stops as if it has reached the end of the rail even though it is well short.

Might want to check if there was a recall on this. I have a 2000 and I want to say I saw one come through a year or two ago. A simple google search should show you a list of recalls and if they're mandatory or not.

I want to replace the seats in my 98 Explorer XLT. What years are interchangeable? The driver's seat is power.

We always recommend a direct fit part. However, if it is seats, chances are any will fit from the same body style. However, the power seat plug may be different./

I would like to change my 1993 explorer limited seats for seats from a newer model explorer. Is this possible, and what would be the latest yr model I could fit in there if at all possible?

Anything is possible. However, we only recommend direct fit parts. With that in mind, if you stay with the same body style which I think changed in 96, the seat should bolt right in. Make sure the new seat bolts to the existing bolts for the seat. DO NOT DRILL NEW HOLES AND BOLT IT TO NOTHING BUT SHEET METAL. That could be very dangerous in an accident.
