2002 Ford Explorer V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

hello, I have a 2002 ford explorer. My power windows are not working. I fooled around with the switch, checked the fuses, bought another. Well, I finally figured out with either the new or old switch installed the windows still do not work, UNLESS, I open my door the all of the windows work except for the driver's window. As so as I close the door, even just an inch or two the switch quits working. Wierd. I am lost. Any ideas?

Chances are there is a broken wire that is between where the wiring enters the door and then enters the vehicle. What you need to do is remove the cover and check the power supply to see if it has power. IF it does, follow it to where it loses it. You may have to do the same with the ground. What appears to be happening is the wire is making contact when the door is open. When you close the door, it is pulling apart.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions. Also, return the new switch if you can.
