1999 Ford Explorer load humming or howling noise

it started about tow days ago. I try to check it sounds like its coming from the intake area. I remove the air filter cap, and the noise is coming from within the air tube. Its loud when the engine idles and stops while driving.

That is interesting. The hose goes straight to the throttle body to supply air to the engine. Are you sure the noise is coming from there? Have you checked to see if there are any vacuum leaks?
