My '96 Explorer faiiled inspection due to faulty ball joints. I have 2 questions. First, they say only the ones on the right side need replacing, does this sound right? Also, what's a fair price to get them replaced and get the vehicle realigned?

If only one side is bad. Only that side needs replacing. Labor is around 2 hours @ shop rate (around $70 P/H) depending on the type fitted to your vehicle . All around the same repair time. Plus OEM dealer part ball joint $55. Then whatever the shop charges for alignment
