Hi y have a 94 explorer and b4 I used to have just some issues of gettin in and tryin to start the car and it would refuse to start so the car would some times attempt without hearin the pump prime sit there idle ruff then die off, so I would wait till it would engage and prime the pump and it would run fine, now its suddenly stopping while im driving along, followed by the pump not priming, do u think its possible to do with the pump going bad fuel filter? Theft system something along those lines, also the fuel gauge no longer works I saddly have to keep the tank full all the time :( thanks alot

Am having the same prob. W/ my 94 2WD Sport. Driving along and will suddenly die. I also can and can't here the fuel pump come on. I have changed the Filter and have yet to get the car started since the change. Moments before the change the car did start. The pump was change 1.5 yrs ago. Can a pump go in that period of time? Is the pump already primed and thats why I cannot here it? Is the pump fuse in need of replacement? Sorry no answer to your question but figured we could relate. Thanks!

I have a 2WD 1994 Ford Explorer, 130k miles on it, I get the exact same problem and I have a new fuel filter and fuel pump in it.

I'm a poor college student so I haven't gotten around to fixing it, but I believe its the Crank shaft sensor, or cam shaft sensor, something along those lines. I'm going to change the crank shaft sensor and see what happens and i'll reply back

Ended up being the fuel pump relay located under the hood in a black box. Its basically the fuse for the fuel pump. Eight dollors and the headache was gone! Thanks
