Hello,

If I am not mistaken that year and up to at least 1994/1995 still has the Vacuum Modulator. If the Diaphragm has failed then the transmission fluid is being sucked into the engine.

So, check that it is located on the passenger side right by the catalytic converter and there is a heat shield protecting it. It will be difficult to get to.

Found transmission fluid in the vacuum manifold line. Now if I can get the catalytic converter off without destroying it I am in business. Thanks again

All Ford transmissions and trans-axles use Mercon (XT-2-QDX)ATF.
Good luck.

My transmission fluid is black instead of pink and it shifts a little slow. Could it be my filter? If so how do I change it? Also, how do I drain the old fluid so I can put new in?
