A friend used my car to push a small mustang out of the snow. It worked somewhat successfully with just a little effort. Now there is a burning smell from my car. I thought it was the tires but when I parked it in the garage it still had the smell. Could something else been damaged? Should I be worried? It drived fine afterwards.

Many times, snow, dirt, or mud will stick to the exhaust and cause a hot smell. If you pushed someone out of a ditch, you may have picked something up. CHeck the exhaust system for anything like that. Also, when this happens, usually the smell will go away. Does it seem as if the smell is less and less noticeable?

Let me know.
