Automatic gear will not shift

I have a 1999 Escort- automatic with 92,000 miles and for the past 2 days when I'm ready to put the gear into drive it's stuck and will not move. I press the brake and the driving gear just doesn't move. Just sits in P and need to get it fix ASAP.

I need your help and figuring what is wrong and who would I go to have it fix. Thank you for your time!

There is an interlock solenoid for the shifter with a switch on the brake pedal. One or the other is faulty.
