1997 Ford Escort Oil Leaks runs than stops

Going though alot of oil, only see leaking around valve cover. Car will run and go for about 1 mile, then it stops and stays running, but won't go? Then if you turn if off and wait for 15 mins and turn it on, it will go for another mile and stop again? Is there a sensor that could be causing this, or does this sound like a transmission problem. Any ideas would be helpful. PS NO oil on ground or oil burning signs.

Hello,

Sound like it could be a tranny problem. Is your engine light on? If so and you can get it to your local auto parts store have them pull codes.

Check your tranny fluid color should be redish/pink. If browninsh and smells burnt, do a tranny fluid and filter change.
