I recently got the car and have had very few problems with it aside from the low acceleration and a faulty battery cable. My car had trouble starting yesterday (The engine sputtered several times but eventually turned over). Later, after getting gas, the car started fine (No sputtering, just startd right up). This morning, however, when I got in to start my car, the engine just kept sputtering but did NOT turn over. I tried pressing down on the gas pedal several times (Worked in a Cavalier I had) and still nothing but cranking with no ignition. At this point I'm just looking for what could be the cause of the problem and how much it would cost to replace it.

Could be contaminated fuel, dirty fuel injectors, clogged fuel filter or faulty pump. I suggest starting with replacing the fuel filter and adding some fuel treatment as well as fuel injection cleaner into the fuel tank.

I started with the fuel filter like you said, and that got the car starting right up. It's rough on the idle, but I added some fuel injector cleaner after I filled the tank, and it seemed okay after that. Will repost if anything further happens, and thanks a lot for the fast reply! I'm still waiting on a callback from my mechanic and I called him on Friday morning!
