Since I posted the question on lack of power and oil blowby, the blowby problem has gotten SEVERE to the point I am using more oil than gas in my '91 Ford Escort, 1.9 L engine, automatic trans with 200,000 miles on it. I put in a new PCV valve, and it is working freely. Oil is being blown into the airbox from the rubber hose attached to the Valve cover. When I tried plugging the hose, it forces oil out the gaskets or anywhere else. I am getting a liter of oil blown into the airbox in 1-2 days driving. This goes out the airbox hole and onto the ground and I am leaving massive oil slicks everywhere I stop. I tried closing off the EGR to the intake with a steel plate over the hole, with no affect on this. What is creating this buildup of pressure in the valve cover? My only option right now is to route this hose into some kind of oil recovery tank so I don't drop it everywhere I go. What is your diagnosis?

Hi kool_rider,

Thank you for the donation.

I suspect the piston rings are fatigued and you need to replace them to reduce the blowby.

I would suggest testing the compression to see how much they have deteriorated over time and age.
