Window motor fails in the down position. Not original motor, it is about 4 years old. When removed it works perfectly. Has it been improperly installed or is the motor bad? Is there an overload device that may be faulty? The window was not subjected to abuse or over use before failure. Window moves freely in tracks and switches either both work or neither works, implying the switches are good.

if the motor works properly when out then its in the switch or it can pull the window down for some reason like maybe its stuck or something. a motor goes up and down just by reversing the polarity. so if you reversed the polarity back and forth and it still goes foward and reverse while it is out then the motor is fine. check the other things i mentioned starting with the switch
