My car is stupid, it overheats but it's not losing rad fluid all that much. I think it might be the fan not ingaging but if the fan is not working will that attribute to the engine overheating? The car also has airconditioning can that play a factor in this as well? It also idles a bit rough and when stopped in gear it feels like its labouring to idle, but when its driving it runs ok. It has gone in for a transmission job. Should I junk-er?

I would definately check the cooling fan. This could be the cause of both your problems.
