Probably the best thing to do in order to get a reliable running engine, is to do at least a minor engine rebuild and replace all the highly wearable parts, such as bearings, oil pump, piston rings, valve guides, etc. I would also hot tank at least the block and heads. Lap the valves, hone the cylinders. Replace ALL seals.
You are most likely thinking that's a lot of work to go through, but after sitting for ten years all items that can deteriorate probably have. Rust rings in the cylinders. In the cooling system. The chance that the vehicle will have problems soon after you get it running is pretty high.
However. Should you only want to see the vehicle running with a minimum of effort, I would check for proper fuel delivery, spark delivered at the right time and compression on all cylinders. Change the oil, change transmission fluid, make sure belts are on, battery is good, all wires are clear of moving parts and go.
