not starting

the first thing to check is the battery. cold weather kills batteries. how old is the battery? have you tried to jump it? let me know and we can go further.

like I stated the truck trys to turn over. battery is just fine. It won't fire up. any further tips to look into? Please reply

turn the key to the on position. do you hear the fuel pump running? if so, where does the gas gauge register at. sometimes the fuel sending unit will go bad and give the gauge a faulty reading, which in case, you'll run out of fuel and not know it.

if you don't hear the pump running then tap on the gas tank with a hammer while someone else tries turning the engine over. if it starts then replace the pump. if not check for power going to the fuel pump. if there is power there and the you still can't hear the fuel pump running when the key is in the on position. replace it also

ok, I do hear the pump i think, "should pump sound be continous? . gas gauge at alittle less than 1/4.
pulled a plug to see if there was spark and there definetley is. how exactly do I check for power at pump? Guidance needed and very appreiciated. while I was trying the plugs I could smell fuel. how do i know if i'm getting fuel at manifold?

if you hear the pump then we know it's working. it's should sound like a high pitch whine. and no it's not continuous. try putting fuel in the tank to see if the gauge moves. if not replace the fuel sending unit.

I recently replaced my fuel pump and fuel line filter on my 1996 Exployer. But, it rained heavily today and it will not start. My machanic says that it is most likely my wiring.

Start checking the fuses. There is a fuse panel under the hood that has ignition and engine circuit fuses and some relays that could be bad. Check these out. Also check the fuses in the dash. If all the fuses are good, try to switch some of the relays around (make sure they are the same) to see if it is a problem there.
