Engine Mechanical problem
1990 Ford Bronco 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive

My Ford Bronco II has had the top end of motor rebuilt. And I cant get it to fire up. The distributor was removed and I have it at top dead center compression stroke the rotor point to the number one on the cap. When I try to start it it drags a bit compression is good and when I pull the distrubutor the motor cranks with no drag. Any thoughts beside battery being low. (And could a ground strap cause this problem.) Have a great day

Don't think dist is in quite right. Pull #1 plug finger in hole have someone hand rotate engine when air escapes stop. Use small screw driver to feel top of piston rotate till piston is up and pointer is on zero.
Now see where dist is pointing.

Yes a tooth could do thats why when you turn it stops dragging. Do the piston thing with finger can't rely on mark it will line up on Zero when #1 is on exhaust stroke.
