1988 Ford Bronco 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

How do you remove the fan from the pulleys? There is a nut between the fan and pulley. Do you hold the pulleys with a strap wrench and turn the nut to unscrew the fan? And if so which way is the nut threaded on?
