I received a check engine light not too long ago after a front end collision. When getting it scanned it threw out the P2097 fuel trim too rich code. I replaced the downstream O2 sensor however after resetting the light it came back on again maybe 30 minutes of driving later. At this point I am clueless as it could be anywhere between the engine and the replaced O2 sensor.

Hi, I just found this thread. Having similar problem with 2017 Honda civic. 120 miles after front end collision got p2097. It was a direct hit to the lower right and side of the car if looking at it. It took out the fog light. The plastic cover. Broke the intercooler pipe and radiator damaging the coolant temperature sensor and plug. Any thoughts?

Yes, I would get a pigtail wiring connector for the coolant temperature sensor from Amazon or the dealer and install it, all sensors must be in good shape and in working order. If the sensor is broken, I would replace that as well, here are the directions in the diagrams below. Also, drain the coolant first. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

I tested the plug and got 5-volts. I’m going with plug is good for now. After Googling a ton. We are finding there are a few different small items that could cause the p2097. Thanks for your help.
